Looking for Mr.Tjhung See-gan’s Offspring
这是一幅拍摄于抗战期间的照片，站在照片正中间的是南侨总会主席陈嘉庚，在他左侧的是南侨总会副主席庄西言。
Here is a picture taken during World War II. The man seen standing at the middle is Tan Kah Kee， Chairman of the Federation of China Relief Fund of Southeast Asia（FCRFSA）;the one on his left is Tjhung See-gan， Vice Chairman of the organization.
庄西言(1885-1965年)，又名西园，号西元，祖籍中国福建省南靖县奎洋镇霞峰村。1905年随族亲远渡重洋，到荷属东印度巴达维亚（今印尼雅加达）从商；1907年加入孙中山领导的中国同盟会；1917年独资创办“全美有限公司”，专营布匹，逐步发展，成为富商；1938年南侨总会成立时，庄西言被选为副主席，协助主席陈嘉庚工作。
据庄西言的六公子庄兆熊1998年来信所述，庄西言有子女6个，他们是：庄兆隣（已故）；庄兆祥，居澳大利亚；庄兆茂（已故）；庄兆星，居印尼万隆；庄兆春，健在；庄兆熊，居美国。信中的英文地址是：Frank T. Tjhung Associations L C， 854，Parker Drive，Suite B，Florence S. C.，29601，USA .传真：（843）6730960 电话：（843）6641077。电话能打通，但无人接听。此后再无联系。

Tjhung See-gan（1885-1965）， also known as See Yuan or See Yen， was Tan Kan Kee’s intimate friend and close comrade-in-arms. After the fall of Singapore during World War II， Tan Kah Kee took refuge in Java， Dutch Indies， pursued by the Japanese gendarme. Tjhung See-gan protected him at the risk of his own life.
Tjhung See-gan was a native of Nanjing County， Fujian， China. In 1905 he went over to Batavia of Dutch Indies（now Jakarta， Indonesia）and began his business career. In 1907 he joined the United League led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen. In 1917 he himself set up the All America Co. Ltd.， engaged in cloth business and gradually built up his wealth. In 1938 when the FCRFSA was set up， he was elected Vice-Chairman to assist Chairman Tan Kah Kee.
As related in a letter from Tiauw Him， Tjhuang’s 6th child， in 1998， Tjhung See-gan has 6 children. They are， Tiauw Lin（deceased）; Tiauw Siang， in Australia; Tiauw Bo（deceased）; Tiauw Seng， in Bandung， Indonesia; Tiauw Tjoen; Tiauw Him， in the US. That was the last ever heard of and from the family.
In his letter Tiauw Him provided his address and means of contact:Frank T. Tjhung Associations L C， 854，Parker Drive，Suite B，Florence S. C.，29601，USA.Fax:(843）6730960;Tel:（843）6641077.The number was right， but no one answered the call.
Now the department in charge of Overseas Chinese affairs of the county government as well as Mr.Tjhuang’s friends and relatives are eager to contact his offspring and would greatly appreciate any hints or clues kindly provided related to the family.
