A new Singapore twenty dollar currency note was issued in June 2019 by the Monetary Authority of Singapore to celebrate our nation抯 bi-centenary.
This note is legal tender, and the unique aspect about it is that they feature eight of Singapore抯 more famous personalities who have made major contributions to Singapore society. One of them is Tan Kah Kee, who donated generously during his early years as an entrepreneur. He is best known for founding at least 13 schools in Singapore, and some of them have now become very highly sought after. The most famous and biggest one is of course Hwa Chong High School.
Although two million pieces of this note have been released by the banks they were immediately snapped up by the public within two days, and many people have been left disappointed that they cannot get any more. MAS later published a press release to say that more notes will be issued later in the year, and to request the public to be patient.
As a token of appreciation, seven members of the Tan family were invited to the Istana to receive a framed copy of a set of uncut notes from Singapore President Halimah Yacob.
The year 2019 is the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and is also the 70th anniversary of our grandfather Mr. Tan Kah-kee抯 returning to China for governance. To mark the occasion, on behalf of the descendants of Mr.Tan Kah Kee, I am honoured to present an identical framed version to the Tan Kah Kee Memorial Museum. I am sure our grandfather would be very pleased to see this priceless item join the countless number of artifacts that proudly record his life’s contributions to mankind’s humanitarian causes.

为纪念新加坡开埠200周年，新加坡金融管理局于2019年6月发行面值20元新版钞票。
该钞票是法定货币，其独具的特点是钞票印有对新加坡社会做出杰出贡献的8位代表人物，其中一位是陈嘉庚。陈嘉庚在其企业成功之初，慷慨解囊，在新加坡最少参与创办了13所学校，名闻遐迩。其中一些学校发展至今，灸手可热，最大最著名的当属华侨中学。
该新钞发行200万张之多，但是在短短的两天内就被抢兑一空，许多人都因兑换不到新钞而大失所望。新加坡金融管理局登报表示将于年内再度发行新版钞票，请大众稍安勿躁。
为表示对陈嘉庚先生的感激，有关部门邀请7名陈嘉庚先生的后人到新加坡总统府，从新加坡总统哈里玛·雅各布手中接过装在框中的一套未经裁切的毛票。
今年是中华人民共和国成立70周年，也是我们的阿公陈嘉庚先生回国参政70周年。我，作为陈嘉庚先生后裔的代表，非常荣幸地把一套完全相同的框装版本捐赠给陈嘉庚纪念馆，以示庆祝和纪念。我相信，在无数显赫记录着他对人类事业贡献的文物中，我们的祖父看到这新添的无价之宝，一定会感到十分欣慰。(2019年8月27日) （陈励雄 译）
